Praise the Lord Iris Garden 2020
2020 was a big year for expansion and organization for Praise The Lord Iris Gardens. With Covid in full swing, I spent most of my time creating new bordered and raised gardens. The one mass garden on the west was turned into seven 30 x 8 foot individual raised gardens with three foot river rock walkways between them. In addition, all other dirt walkways were turned into river rock walkways. The Ghost garden was created as well with all newer iris. And finally, two rock lined drainage ditches were installed to improve drainage.
Since most people had cabin fever because of Covid, we decided to open our gardens to the public. The local newspaper, The Perkins Journal, was kind enough to give us a spread on the front page. Lots of folks must have been looking for something to do because we had lots of visitors.
Weather was interesting as usual. We had such warm weather in early spring that we set warming fires all around the west gardens to protect all the new iris growth and fruit tree blooms from a very late hard freeze.
